Technology for the Young
As the demand for technology and computing talent continues to grow rapidly, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure that young people have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the digital age. While many schools have introduced initiatives to promote computing and coding, there is still a gap between supply and demand for technology talent. In this session, we will explore ways to supercharge educational activities beyond just teaching children to code, so that they can develop the skills and competencies they will need to thrive in the modern workforce.
We will discuss innovative approaches to teaching and learning, ways to incorporate emerging technologies such as AI, Cybersecurity, and Data Science, and strategies for creating activities that are memorable, inspiring, and up-to-date. We will also consider the role of informal education in enriching school computing curriculums, and how providers can update content to reflect changing technology. By the end of this session, we hope to have generated a range of practical and actionable ideas that can help to inspire and prepare the next generation of technology and computing talent.
